Thomas has had a lifelong interest in people’s behaviors, beliefs, and
in hypnosis. He began practicing hypnosis in 1975 and often put on
demonstrations for friends and relatives
throughout high school and college. Always an avid reader of personal
development approaches, in 1989, Thomas discovered and began a serious
study of NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP).
NLP struck a chord with Thomas, as it proved to be an effective model
of how people subjectively experience the world, and how changes in
behavior could be made lightening fast. One of the early products of NLP
was the "fast phobia technique" which completely eliminated
phobias (e.g., fear of snakes, spiders, heights, water, etc.) within 5
minutes! Countless other NLP techniques and applications have also been
developed. Additionally significant about NLP, to Thomas, was the fact
that it was developed out of modeling essentially 3 dramatically effective
people – Milton H. Erickson (the father of modern hypnotherapy), Virgina
Satir (family therapist), and Fritz Perls (creator of Gestalt therapy).
Hypnosis and NLP have obvious strong connections. And together they can be
effectively applied for rapid and dramatic personal change! Thomas
achieved certifications as an NLP Practitioner, Master Practitioner and
then Trainer, under the instruction of Dr. William Horton, Psy.D.
"NLP
may be the most powerful vehicle for change in existence." -
Modern Psychology
Next, Thomas began an equally intense study of hypnosis as used in
regard to helping people change. He has thoroughly studied and practiced
the techniques of Milton H. Erickson, Dave Elman, Arnold Furst, Dr. Lester T.
Kashiwa, Gil Boyne, Gerald Kein, Don Mottin, and many other
past and current-day practitioners.
He learned
how to meet the needs of his clients, based upon each one’s unique
personality, using the right combinations of all hypnosis schools of
thought. Thomas was formally trained under the instruction of Dr. Joanna
Starr, Psy.D., holds three certifications as a Hypnotherapist, and is
registered with the National Guild of
Hypnotists, Inc., and the American Board of Clinical Hypnotherapy.
As such, he holds to the highest ethical standards
in Hypnotherapy. In addition,
Thomas holds several certifications in specialty areas of hypnosis
application, such as smoking cessation, weight management, and sports
enhancement.
Today Thomas is actively engaged in both client practice and training.
He works with individuals in private session to help them achieve their
goals and desires. He also conducts training classes for corporations and
the public interest on a variety of topics, including Self-Hypnosis,
Weight Loss, and NLP. Thomas is available, on a
consulting basis, to assist professionals in medical practices, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and mental health
practices. And finally, Thomas is also available, on an as-requested basis, to
speak on the subjects of hypnosis, NLP, and their applications.
Thomas is married with three children and a host of pets. He enjoys the
fantastic weather and scenery of living on the mesa in Rio Rancho
(Albuquerque), New Mexico. He is an active member of MENSA™
and particularly enjoys eBay auctions (hypnosis memorabilia, of course)
and doing magic tricks.
